Dalit men tonsured, forced to crawl over cow smuggling allegations in Odisha

 In a shocking incident from Odisha’s Ganjam district, two Dalit men were subjected to brutal treatment by a mob that accused them of cow smuggling. The incident took place in Kharigumma village under the jurisdiction of Dharakote police station. According to police reports, the victims had legally purchased a cow and two calves and were on their way home when they were intercepted by a group of local men. The mob accused them of smuggling the animals and demanded a sum of ₹30,000 from them. When the Dalit men said they couldn’t pay, they were physically assaulted. The mob then forcibly tonsured both men and made them crawl on the road with grass clamped between their teeth — a form of public humiliation. A video clip of the incident has surfaced, showing the men crawling while several individuals walk behind them, some laughing and recording. The other condition is hypothyroidism in which the level of TSH increases in the woman's body. Due to which complaints like fatigue, weight gain, gas formation, constipation persist.

According to a report, about 4 crore people in India have thyroid problem, out of which 80 percent are women. This disease can also occur in a healthy looking person, which most people are not even aware of. Therefore, a doctor should be contacted if any symptoms appear. During pregnancy, any woman should especially take care of her health and get her thyroid checked.


What is the role of thyroid hormone during pregnancy and how can it be treated?


The role of thyroid hormone is very important for the development of a child in the early days of pregnancy. It is very important for the mother to be healthy for the all-round development of a child growing in the womb. Although the thyroid gland of a child starts developing after 4 months, but it is not able to produce sufficient amount of hormones, so the responsibility of the child's development lies entirely on the pregnant woman. Therefore, she should keep getting regular checkups done and should take medicines only after consulting a doctor.


Having a low or high level of thyroid hormone is not good for your health. Both conditions can be harmful for a pregnant woman. In such a situation, there is a risk of miscarriage. Iodine therapy is also used for its treatment. Pregnant women must drink adequate amount of water so that their body remains hydrated. Increase the amount of vitamin A in your food.
